During a recent Provincial Event we arranged a half day First Aid training session with the Red Cross which was excellent. A good mix of both theory and practical with everyone enthusiastic and getting involved.
As a result we want to advertise this across our Counties for Clubs in Britain to have the opportunity to also book a session at a preferential rate.
Details of the course:
GAA Pitch Side First Aid
Course duration: 3 hours
Completion timescale: 1 session only (full attendance)
Certificate details: GAA Pitch side first aid. Valid for 3 years.
Target group:
First aid training for Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) staff and volunteers. This course covers a range of first aid skills for children and adults that may be required at the pitch side. Adult and child focus.
Pre- course requirement:
Customers must be able to carry out the practical elements from the course outline. Minimum age 16.
Assessment type:
Continuous assessment by observation, practical and questioning.
Course content:
Welcome and Introductions
Unresponsive and breathing child and adult
Unresponsive and not breathing child and adult
AED: Use of an AED, safety considerations, after use and ongoing maintenance
Choking child and adult
Bleeding and wounds: Bleeding heavily (limb)
Shock
